Vision Statement

Students can achieve their lifelong social, emotional, academic and career goals in a safe and culturally sensitive environment. Students will actively sustain a positive vision for their future by executing a strategic plan for their success. Additionally, students will advocate for themselves and be resilient when faced with adversity. As productive assets to their social environment,  our students will become exemplary role models displaying integrity and strong interpersonal skills as they lead initiatives and become change agents in society.  

Mission Statement

The mission of the School Counseling Program at York Early College Academy is to ensure all students, traditionally underserved college going, have academic social and emotional support. Our mission is to provide students with access to college courses that will promote equity, ensuring all students are prepared to become life-long learners and participate in the 21st century economy.

Department’s Beliefs

  • All students will successfully participate in York Early College Academy’s program to develop a  strong foundation for achieving their lifelong social, emotional, academic, and career goals.
  • All students will reach their academic, social, emotional and career potential when they are given high-quality, relevant, supportive interventions.
  • All students will collaboratively develop, implement, and execute a post secondary plan in order to successfully complete their degrees.
  • All students will learn to advocate for themselves and to be resilient when faced with adversity.

Meet The Team

The Student Services Department at York Early College Academy is available to help address your questions and concerns throughout the academic school year.
Please review the information below to determine which Student Services Department team member will be able to help you based on your question/concern.
How can this person help? Ms. Bernadel can help with all things related to your scholar's IEP or 504. She works closely with the 9th-grade teacher team to ensure students are on the right path for academic success.
How can this person help? Mr. Burnett is our middle school counselor. He focuses on attendance records, annual individual progress reviews, and high school readiness. He works closely with the 6th-grade teacher team to ensure students are on the right path for academic success.
How can this person help? Ms. Davis works closely with our 6th-7th-grade students to help them become assimilated to YECA. She meets with students, grades 6-12, for individual counseling and group counseling. She works closely with the 8th-grade teacher team to ensure students are on the right path for academic success.
How can this person help? Ms. Evripiotis is our 9th and 10th-grade school counselor. She focuses on attendance records, transcript reviews, and college/career readiness. She works closely with the 10th-grade teacher team to ensure students are on the right path for academic success.
How can this person help? Mr. Gross works with students grades 6-12 to promote good attendance rates, ensure school safety, and prevent campus violence. He works with and trains YECA peer mediators to be proficient in conflict resolution. He is YECA's Respect for All liaison. He works closely with the 7th-grade teacher team to ensure students are on the right path for academic success.
